Community Matters
What makes a community great?
What makes a community great? The people. At Great Southern Bank, we see each community that we serve as an extension of our family. Community means a lot to us, and we know it means a lot to you too. That's why we believe that giving back goes well beyond donations. Our bankers are more than bankers. They are mentors, lending their expertise to guide others to financial stability. They are volunteers, giving their time to organizations that fuel their passion. Our team recognizes that a thriving economy means more success for everyone, which is why we consistently collaborate with a strong network of partners and provide dependable financial support.

Community development works best when it can be supported through traditional banking products and delivery channels. We focus on providing consumers and businesses access to capital, which is essential for our communities to grow and thrive.
We believe in the good work that nonprofit organizations accomplish for individuals in times of great need. That’s why we choose to financially support their efforts, investing hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in nonprofit organizations through sponsorships and charitable grants.
Our associate’s actions reflect their community spirit. Thousands of hours are spent mentoring, teaching, leading and sometimes, sweating, as they work to make their communities better. Our Company supports these efforts by offering associates at all levels paid time off to get out of the office and spend time volunteering for a cause that they are passionate about. Visit our Volunteerism page to learn more.
Financial Literacy
At Great Southern, we believe that banking and education go hand in hand. From the first connection with our customers, we are their financial educators, listening to their needs, and then guiding them through options to determine what works best for their lifestyle and financial security. Financial education extends into the community. Our associates are lending their financial expertise volunteering to help children, teens, adults and seniors as well as small businesses learn about many aspects of money management and banking.

Great Southern Bank has a strong history of partnering with the United Way. As our Company has grown into many communities, our involvement and support of local United Way agencies has also expanded. Great Southern Bank hosts an annual, Company-wide LIVE UNITED week, a fundraising and awareness campaign for United Way. Our Company and our associates financially support local United Way offices that reach every community we serve.
Community Matters is our corporate philanthropic program where Great Southern Bank takes an active role in our communities through community development loans, investments, financial grants and sponsorships, as well as promoting associate volunteerism and leadership in the community. Great Southern Bank values the hard work of nonprofit organizations throughout the world. However, due to limited resources, we are only able to support those that are located in the communities we serve. To request support from Great Southern Bank, please contact your local Great Southern Banking Center.
