Contactless Cards >

Contactless cards are similar to digital wallets. The transaction is completed by holding or tapping the card on a contactless-enable card reader. The technology can also be known as "tap to pay" or "tap and go." It's significantly faster than swiping, inserting, or using cash. Plus, it can keep your hands off the card reader.

To check whether your Great Southern Bank debit card is contactless, look for the contactless symbol on the front of your card next to the chip. The contactless symbol is four vertical, curved lines that get bigger from left to right - like the Wi-Fi symbol turned on its side.

Each time a contactless card is used at a contactless-enabled terminal, a unique transaction code is generated that cannot be replicated, making it more difficult for criminals to fraudulently duplicate the card. By tapping to pay, you also minimize the risk of skimming.
While contactless technology will provide additional security and help reduce the risk of fraud, it cannot completely eliminate fraud and card compromises from occurring. It is still important to keep your card number and PIN secure.
Once you know how to use contactless debit cards, it just takes a few seconds to complete your transaction!
  1. Look for the contactless symbol on the payment terminal. The four curved lines that appear on your debit card should also appear on contactless-enabled card readers.
  2. When prompted, tap or hold your debit card one to two inches away from the front of the terminal.
  3. If your purchase is approved, you'll receive confirmation from the reader - typically a beep, green light or check mark.

If a merchant is not contactless-enabled, you may still insert the chip or swipe the magnetic stripe to complete your transaction. You now have more ways to pay than ever before!

Fraud Watch >

Fraud Watch is a transaction notification system that automatically alerts customers to potentially fraudulent activity on their Great Southern Debit Card. Potentially fraudulent activity is determined by the type, amount and location of the transaction.

If a debit card transaction appears potentially fraudulent, you will be contacted via email followed by a text message and a phone call shortly thereafter. Your prompt response to any of these notifications helps ensure that you don't experience a service disruption with your debit card. If the transaction in question was you, reply yes and you can continue using your debit card. If it was not you, reply no and you'll need to speak with a Fraud Prevention specialist. If you do not respond, your card may be deactivated until we hear from you.

Please note that phone calls and texts will only occur between 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. based on your area code.
